2007’s Best Metal Albums
Since I haven’t listened to the majority of 2007’s major releases in extreme music, I won’t attempt to put together my own pathetic list. Instead, here are some "best of 2007" lists you should care about:
• Decibel Magazine’s Top 40 Albums of 2007
• Allmusic’s Favorite Metal Albums of 2007 Part 1 | Part 2
• Emusic’s 2007 Rewind: The Year In Metal
• SonicFrontiers.net’s Best Underground Albums of 2007
• RoadRunner Records’s Top10 Lists
Frequent choices seem to include Alcest’s "Souveniers d’un Autre Monde," Deathspell Omega’s "Fas - Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum", Watain’s "Sworn to the Dark," Pelican’s "City of Echoes," Pig Destroyer’s "Phantom Limb," Baroness’s "The Red Album," Neurosis’s "Given to the Rising," The Ocean’s "Precambrian" and Wolves in the Throne Room’s "Two Hunters."
Some overlooked releases from 2007 that I enjoyed and highly recommend include Bergraven’s "Dödvisioner," Blut Aus Nord’s "Odinist," The Ruins of Beverast’s "Rain Upon The Impure," Lifelover’s "Erotik," and Woburn House’s "Message To Ourselves Outside the Dreaming Machine."
