Svarte Greiner’s second full-length album, “Kappe,” is set to be released on February 16th through Type Records. The sample track ‘Last Light’ is available for streaming on the Svarte Greiner MySpace page. You can preorder “Kappe” at Amazon.com or Boomkat.

Aside from the new album, Svarte Greiner has also just released “Man Bird Dress,” a limited-edition 12″ on SMTG Ltd. It features two studio tracks and one live recording spanning a total of 31 minutes. US listeners can secure a copy from Forced Exposure.

Svarte Greiner is the solo project of Deaf Center’s Erik Skodvin, who also runs the Miasmah label. Aptly dubbed ‘acoustic doom,’ Svarte Greiner’s style features singularly disturbing soundscapes made up of subtle acoustic instruments, electronics and field recordings. The music is definitely not as cold or harsh as what you’d encounter on a metal or dark ambient album, but there are few other artists out there that can evoke such potent feelings of unease in the listener.
